Nagaland Rural Bank (NRB) under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) conducted financial literacy camps (FLCs) at Burma camp and Aokong village, Dimapur on March 23 and 24 to spread awareness on the banking services rendered by NRB to the needy people and farmers of the State.
Senior manager NRB Aokeyi Ao spoke at length on the various banking services such as deposit schemes (current, savings, joint liability group JLT, fixed deposit, term deposit and special term deposit), loans (kisan credit card KCC, general credit card GCC, SHG etc), social security schemes (Atal Pension Yojana APY, Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana PMJDY etc) and national electronic fund transfer (NEFD) etc. He also added that government employee personal loans, and car loans for professional/self employed youths were provided by NRB.
During the interactive session, queries on how to open a bank account and multiple queries were asked on the APY.
GB Aokong village, Dimapur T. Onen Jamir said that the FIC was the first of its kind in Aokong village, and expressed gratitude to the NRB for organizing such camps, and also the need of such FLCs as such knowledge need to be spread among the Nagas, especially to start businesses.
On both the days of the FLC, approximately 60-80 participants attended the programmes.
NRB is one of the eighteen regional rural banks (RRBs) sponsored by the State Bank of India (SBI) offering every possible support and guidance to the NRB to improve the earning of miscellaneous businesses.
