The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and Nagaland Athletics, organized the State Red Run 2025 on September 6, at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima, Chümoukedima with this year’s theme: “Run for Awareness, Run Against HIV and STIs.”
The program kicked off with a welcome address, followed by a pledge and flag-off ceremony led by project director, NSACS, Dr. Ahu Sekhose. The event featured two main race categories: the State Level Red Run 10K (Men & Women) and the Open 10K (Men & Women).
The Open 10K race was flagged off by secretary general & vice president, Athletics Federation of India (AFI), Abu Metha. A total of 224 runners participated in the race, representing both Nagaland and neighboring states.
Following the completion of the races, a prize distribution and closing ceremony was held at the Multidisciplinary Stadium in Sovima, Chümoukedima. Dr. Ahu Sekhose and Abu Metha delivered brief remarks at the ceremony. The winners were then presented with their awards for their outstanding performances.
The State Red Run 2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from across Nagaland and neighbouring states. More than a race, the event was a collective effort to raise awareness and strengthen the fight against HIV and STIs through sports and community spirit.
