Northern Sumi Community Dimapur (NSCD) and Western Yimkhiung Hoho have expressed dismay over the state government’s decision to hold a meeting with various organisations on the foothills road project without extending an invitation to the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC).
NSCD president Vikai Yeptho and general secretary Khekavi Chishi said that the efforts and sacrifices made by NFHRCC in spearheading the extraordinary people’s project could not be undermined or sidelined by any resolution involving organisations who have no in depth story of the historic project.
NSCD strongly urged the government to include NFHRCC in the proposed meeting. Further, NSCD extended its full support to NFHRCC in their endeavours.
Western Yimkhiung Hoho: Expressing shock over the exclusion of NFHRCC from the upcoming consultative meeting, Western Yimkhiung Hoho (WYH) pointed out that while the foothill road project was one of the main agendas for discussion, sidelining the NFHRCC was a “mockery to the aspirations of the people.”
It said that since its inception, NFHRCC had played a pivotal role in the success of the project, always advocating for a high-quality roadway in line with the people’s mandate. Despite its voluntary service and contributions, the hoho stated that the government’s failure to involve NFHRCC was a “disgrace.”
The hoho fervently appealed to the state government to take NFHRCC into confidence by inviting them to the meeting, which it said would ensure better progress, stability, and the successful completion of the project.
