Defending its ato kilonser Hokato Vusshe, the NSCN/GPRN-K (Khango-Vusshe) has strongly rejected allegations made by the rival Isak-led faction that he was involved in a fake currency racket, terming the charges as “baseless, fabricated and part of a conspiracy”.
Briefing reporters at CFSB office, NSCN-K (Khango-Vusshe) chief secretary Mhoyamo Kithan questioned the credibility of the claims, noting the woman accused in the case was first apprehended on August 29, released, and later re-arrested on September 10. “If she was caught red-handed, why was she freed?” he asked, alleging foul play.
He said the woman had voluntarily approached the group’s “PM office” in early August and admitted involvement in the racket. The faction, he claimed, allowed her to act undercover in order to identify the real mastermind. He alleged the Isak group’s version, together with the accused, was part of a plot to discredit the organisation.
Dismissing technical claims about the printing process, Mhoyamo said ordinary printers could not produce counterfeit notes and asserted the operation’s “head office” was located in Kohima.
Asserting that the organization would pursue the case further and ensure that the actual mastermind was exposed and brought to justice, he added the group possessed photographic evidence of their surveillance.
Kilo kilonser Viniho Kiho condemned the allegations and warned that any fallout would be the responsibility of Isak Sumi.
