NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe) has refuted claims made by NSCN (R) that 80 of its members had defected and joined the latter, calling the statements “baseless, unfounded and wishful thinking.”
In a statement, NSCN (Khango-Vusshe)’s MIP, cautioned the Wangtin-led NSCN (R) group not to mislead Nagas by misinterpreting wrong information that could provoke the peaceful coexistence during crucial stage of the Naga political movement.
Contrary to NSCN (R)’s claims, NSCN/GPRN asserted that the number of national workers who had recently joined their group from NSCN (R) had exceeded 60, following the joining of senior kilonser Khekato Kinimi to strengthen the leadership of president ‘lt. gen.’ (Retd) Khango Konyak and ato kilonser Hokato Vusshe. The group said among those who joined included senior kilonsers, high-ranking military officers, and secretaries from key portfolios such as defence kilonser, home, defence and ceasefire secretaries, and Naga army, led by ‘maj. gen.’ Kakiho, GSO-1.
MIP also clarified that former kilonser Carlos Zhimo and Nilo Zhimo, who claimed to be members of NSCN (K), were terminated from active membership.
It added that two others, who claimed to be Lotha Region chairman and secretary, were under suspension for “conniving with adversaries for their criminal activities.”
Further, MIP said a few members who had defected from USR, Lotha, and Ao regions would not affect the functioning of the government.
In this regard, NSCN (Khango-Vusshe) advised Wangtin-led group to first ascertain facts and figures in the future before putting out in public domain, cautioning that such desperate acts would only cause more harm and embarrassment to their group.
