NSCN/GPRN (Khango) clarifies on Dec 16 incident

NSCN/GPRN (Khango) has issued an official statement regarding the December 16, 2024, incident involving Aolemba Longkumer.

In a statement issued through its MIP, NSCN (Khango) said that the organization was fully aware of the situation and condition of the so called incident and wished to question and clarify its position in the public domain.

MIP stated that Aolemba was penalized and was asked to submit an amount of Rs. 50 lakh as fine for failing to execute a project as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and for misappro-priating funds intended for the allocated project, which was best known to him as a contractor. The group claimed to possess sufficient evidence to substantiate its stand and prepared to bring out in public domain if the need arises.

The organization urged civil society organizations (CSOs) to first take into account as to why such action was initiated by the NSCN government against the said individual. MIP said that NSCN, as the people’s mandated government, wished to send across a clear message to all con-tractors and suppliers in Nagaland to strictly adhere to DPR for all round development in the State.

Emphasizing the need for check and balance in all aspect of developmental works and to curb corruption, NSCN (Khango) appealed to the competent authority to strictly verify the ongoing project. The group warned that it would not remain a mute spectator when huge amount of money was being siphoned off by contractors/suppliers meant for development of Naga inhabited areas and for the younger generations.

Affirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence among the Nagas, NSCN (Khango) expressed dismay that when all Nagas around the globe were longing for peaceful final settlement, some CSOs during the joint press conference suggested Nagas to prepare for civil war or bloodshed was uncalled for.

The group reaffirmed that the stand of NSCN was “crystal clear yesterday, today and tomor-row”, that it will never tolerate bloodshed among the Nagas.
