NSCN/GPRN (Niki) observes 79th Naga Independence Day at GHQ Suruhuto

DIMAPUR

The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) commemorated the 79th Naga Independence Day at its General Headquarters, Suruhuto Designated Camp in Zunheboto district on Wednesday.
The celebration was marked by a ceremonial guard of honour for the chief guest, kilo kilonser, Mhonbemo Tsanglao, who unfurled the Naga National Flag and addressed the gathering.
In his speech, Mhonbemo emphasized the importance of unity among all Naga people to realize their collective dreams and aspirations, which he described as the inherent right of the Nagas. He also urged national workers to renew their commitment to the cause of national service.
The Independence Day speech of president of NSCN/GPRN, Gen. (Retd.) Niki Sumi, was read out during the programme.
The event witnessed participation from a wide spectrum of civil society, including Hoho officials, Gaon Burhas (GBs) and elders, who attended in large numbers to show solidarity.
A minute of silent prayer was observed in honour of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the struggle for Naga nationalism.
The programme also featured a military parade by various contingents and a patriotic song presentation by the PAN. Promotions within the rank and file of the organization were announced during the event.
Invocation prayer was offered by pastor GHQ, Ikuto Jimo, while the welcome address was delivered by cabinet secretary Inovi Naga. Kilonser Border Affairs, Y. Asang, proposed the vote of thanks, and the benediction was pronounced by Kilonser, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Viheshe Yeptho.
The function was moderated by secretary Kilo Affairs, Uketo Chophy, and recorded by joint secretary and Head of Department CFSB, Ameka Achumi.
