Close on the heels of a video–taped statement made by a ‘private’ in the Naga Army of the NSCN (I-M) who was caught by the army and who confessed that he was deputed to hand over arms to a Meitei organisation, the NSCN (I-M) said private Khosiivei Lovingson Roah, made the statement after being subjected to third degree torture and under duress and not on his own volition.
In a statement issued through its MIP, NSCN (I-M) said after being released by the army, the Naga Army took over Roah to “unearth the truth” on the exact circumstances that led to the creation of “the stinging sensation in the social media platforms.”
MIP said Khosiivei Lovingson Roah was caught on August 15 somewhere at Lamlong, Imphal east and later taken to the army camp “somewhere beyond Chingmeirong, Imphal” and after being blindfolded, was taken to the army camp located between Koirengkei and Mantripukhri where he was interrogated.
MIP said Roah was given third degree torture and under “duress was made to speak out exactly as tutored before the camera.”
It further added that he was “threatened with dire consequences if he refused to cooperate. Thus, everything that flowed from his mouth was done under duress and nothing of his own version”, MIP added.
MIP said Roah was released by the captors after “rewarding him handsomely for doing what he was asked to do in order to fulfil the scheming game plan to corrupt the communal integrity of NSCN, amidst the communal violence that is burning Manipur.”
MIP said the manner in which the statement was video taped left no doubt about the “existence of a conspiracy group managed by a powerful and sinister security forces to assassinate the image of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN)before the world, by plotting such an extremely dramatic situation in the midst of the Meitei-Kuki-Zo ethnic progrom.”
NSCN (I-M) added that it was “the awful truth of the Indian security forces targeting the NSCN “to drag its name into the “communal pool of violence.”
