NSCN (I-M) clarifies on defection

DIMAPUR, MAR 22 (NPN):

NSCN (I-M) has issued a clarification regarding the recent defection of some of its members to the NNC/FGN group, stating that certain individuals had been misrepresenting their ranks and affiliation.
In a statement issued through MIP secretary, NSCN (I-M) said it had earlier extended an “olive branch” to members from various factions to return and contribute to the Naga cause. However, it alleged that some “habitual defectors” had left the organisation for personal gain despite being accommodated.
The statement informed that the individuals who had earlier joined NSCN (I-M) from NNC/FGN on April 8, 2025, included Khutovi Awomi, Atovi Chishi, Akito Achumi, Kughalu Achumi and Kakheto Zhimo, who were inducted as steering committee members, while Semato Awomi was inducted as a leacy.
MIP further clarified that the ranks held by these individuals within the organisation were as accorded at the time of their induction, and not as claimed in media reports.
It also stated that Akahoto Awomi and Mughalu Aye, “self proclaimed tatar”, were not members of the organisation. The group cautioned both individuals against misusing or impersonating its name in the future. The clarification was issued on the directive of the competent authority, the statement added.
