NSCN (I-M) Rengma Hills bans

The Naga Rengma Hills of the NSCN (I-M) has banned all activities of hunting, fishing, deforestation and poaching of endangered species. Naga Rengma Hills, CAA, deputy kilonser & caretaker EO, Tennyson Rengma, in a press release listed names of flora and fauna as examples of things it intends to ban the killing or destruction of. “…linsang, three keeled Asian turtle, pigmy hog, swamp deer etc. to name a few and endangered plants such as ophiorriza Hispada, Ceroprgia lucida, Dendrobium aurantiacum, bambusoidae, cane stick frankincense etc” the release said.  It warned that illegal contracts of all forest products obtained within the Naga Rengma Hills would be dealt with stringent action. It further explained that the notice was being issued after serious threat caused to flora and fauna of the Naga Rengma Hills by illegal activities which deteriorated the environment. It added that approval of authorities of the Naga Rengma Hills GPRN should be obtained for eco-activities or research programs within the Naga Rengma Hills. “Defaulters shall be penalized sternly” it warned.
