NSCN (Niki) reacts to rumours

DIMAPUR

In response to rumours being circulated, NSCN/GPRN (Niki) clarified that it has “not aligned with the Working Committee of NNPGs or their Agreed Position.”
The group stated that without its knowledge, NNPGs had issued a statement regarding ‘gen.’ (Retd) Niki Sumi, which should not be misconstrued as a convergence of political stance. It maintained that the NSCN/GPRN remained neutral and equidistant from both the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position.
Terming what it called “character assassinations” by the Government of India as laughable, the group asserted that Naga political rights could neither be erased nor bullied into submission. “History is a testament to the resilience of the Nagas,” it said.
It further stated that government of India should demonstrate the political will to be sincere in the political talks instead of reverting to the history of violence. The group asserted that Centre’zs “carrot and stick” policy would only strengthen its resolve to fight for the historical and political rights of the Nagas.
Reiterating its commitment, NSCN/GPRN said it had sworn a sacred oath before Almighty God to protect and defend the Nagas and would not succumb to cheap gimmicks of government of India. The statement reaffirmed that NSCN believed in a political settlement inclusive of all stakeholders.
