NSCN (R) condemns raid by Assam Rifles

NSCN (R) has condemned what it described as “arbitrary raid” at the residence of its kilonser Khekato, around 2 a.m., on August 30.

NSCN (R) through its MIP stated that the raid caused “chaos, fuss and fear psychosis in and around the vicinity besides causing harassment and mental affliction upon the family members” which included minor children.
“The misadventures of the AR/SF should stop immediately by all means and not to be mistaken by the silence of the NSCN, as weakness,” NSCN (R) stated. Stating that it was maintaining the spirit and sanctity of the Ceasefire Ground Rules (CFGR) and respecting the desire of the people for peace, the group said that its patience should “not be misconstrued as cowardice or submission”.
Further, NSCN (R) said that its silence should not to be mistaken as weakness.NSCN (R) said that AR raid had raided Khekato’s residence even on May 31, 2021, adding that the issue was put up at CF meeting in Kohima and Delhi.
NSCN (R) stated that the ceasefire supervisory board (CFSB) reminded at the meeting on CFGR, where it was mentioned that “no raid, ambush or offences will be carried upon the NSCN’s members”, urging the competent authority to review the same.
The group also maintained that if there were any discrepancies, the matter should be conveyed to CFSB team/office to facilitate the issue where it was mutually consented upon that both parties would maintain the CFGR at all cost and to “control their respective boys/jawans.”
However, the group said while it was “trying to maintain the CFGR,” the SF/AR personnel were acting otherwise and continued carrying out raids, which it said was “nothing short of a double-standard attitude.”
NSCN (R) has, therefore, appealed to the responsible authority to immediately “intervene to restrain such offensive and provoking action,” lest the hard-earned peace was jeopardised and compromised.
