NSCN (R) panel rejects expelled member’s allegations

DIMAPUR: NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has said that an inquiry committee constituted to probe allegations levelled by Kavishe Zhimo against the party leadership and government has rejected all the charges as “false, fabricated and with no locus standi.”
In a press statement, MIP secretary said an emergency meeting was held on June 18, 2026, at Dimapur under the chairmanship of kilo (Home) kilonser Carlus Kughato Zhimo to discuss the allegations. The meeting resolved to constitute an inquiry committee headed by senior kilonser Lhoughoto Chishi, with kilonsers Vetokhu Chophy and Kaiyong Konyak and Ahovi Chishi as secretary.
The statement said the committee submitted its report on July 6 after a thorough investigation. It claimed the allegations were made with “malicious intention” against the party leaders and out of frustration following Zhimo’s suspension for alleged anti-party activities. It further alleged that service records available with the government revealed several discrepancies during Zhimo’s tenure in various offices.
According to the report, MIP said Zhimo’s claim of participating in the first ceasefire agreement was found to be incorrect, stating that NSCN/GPRN (R) entered into a formal ceasefire on April 27, 2015, while Zhimo joined the organisation on October 16, 2015.
The committee also alleged financial mismanagement during his tenure as revenue in-charge of Dimapur district beginning April 8, 2016, estimating misuse of around Rs 25 lakh, besides another Rs 12 lakh while serving as kilo (Home) kilonser and convenor of the Crime Control Cell (CCC).
It further alleged that Zhimo made at least three unsuccessful attempts to defect to other Naga political groups under the pseudonym “James Zhimo” in 2019, 2021 and 2025.
The report also claimed that despite being reappointed by the collective leaders “out of pure compassion” as kilo (Home) kilonser and convenor of CCC, Zhimo allegedly failed to submit revenue generated by the department, which it claimed was corroborated by the crime in-charge, and instead used the money for construction of his personal building at Thilixu Village Block IV, Dimapur.
The committee further alleged that Zhimo engaged in smear campaigns against party workers and senior colleagues, creating mistrust within the organisation for personal financial gains, and that while continuing as an ACL member, he was allegedly planning to float a new political party, which ultimately led to his suspension and subsequent expulsion from both active and primary membership.
The report further stated that while Zhimo had rightly said the Naga political movement belonged to all Nagas and not to any individual, he was reminded that the movement belonged to Naga patriots who have the courage to face challenges and the will to sacrifice for the cause and not to those who wish to live off the hard-earned efforts of others. It alleged that such individuals had demeaned the Naga political issue to the extent that people had begun viewing all Naga Political Groups through the same lens. NSCN/GPRN (R) said it would not issue any further statement on the matter.
