Two days after the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) accused “some Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and other elements” of forcefully imposing and collecting taxes from shops and business establishments, the NSCN (Reformation) Thursday expressed “regret” that DCCI accused “all Naga NPGs (in general) regarding Taxation issue.” NSCN (R) through its MIP asserted that its top leaders had directed all its members not to impose any taxes on shops in and around Dimapur town during the pandemic. Making its stand clear, NSCN (R) said it had also not deputed or assigned any of its member(s) to collect tax. Instead, NSCN (R) said it appreciated the DCCI and other frontline workers for their “selfless sacrifices in combating the pandemic threat.”
NSCN (R) reacts to DCCI accusation
NSCN (R) has therefore, demanded that “if any imposters/con-men/incognitos or perhaps some NSCN (R) cadres” were collecting tax without the knowledge of the authorities, the DCCI should immediately report or make known to its authorities, “within 3 days times from the publication of this order, so that stern action(s) will be initiated upon the defaulters as per the Azah.”
It further warned, that failure to do so, would leave it with no option but “to take it as an intentional attempt to tarnish the image of the NSCN (R).”
NSCN (R) reiterated its position that it would “maintain ‘Zero Tolerance’ to any Cadres or unscrupulous elements who unnecessarily harass the public and taints the image of the NSCN (R)”, adding that no stone would be left unturned “to thwart any such acts.”
