NSCN (R) urges GoI to expedite peace process

DIMAPUR, OCT 10 (NPN)

NSCN (Reformation) has appealed to the Government of India to expedite the peace process and work towards a timely resolution of the long-standing Indo-Naga political issue.
This was among several resolutions made during the 10th Joint Council Meeting at Penhang Designated Camp, Nagaland, on October 9, NSCN (R) MIP secretary stated in a press note. While acknowledging the extensive dialogues held over the years, the MIP stated that the group believes the time has come to translate these efforts into meaningful outcomes for lasting peace.
The meeting emphasised that the future of Naga youths and the stability of the present generation were of paramount importance, asserting that NSCN (R) cannot afford a future where the Naga youths are left directionless or the present generation mired in uncertainty. It reaffirmed that the Naga political struggle represented the legitimate aspiration of the people and must not be misconstrued, suppressed, or exploited to marginalize our communities.
The house expressed gratitude to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), tribal hohos, and the Tirap, Changlang and Longding People’s Forum (TCLPF) for their efforts in promoting dialogue and unity through the Council of Naga Cooperation and Relationship.
It noted that the Naga political issue was a shared responsibility requiring contributions from every Naga, and called upon all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) to actively support and engage in FNR’s initiatives to achieve a collective and meaningful resolution.
The house also took strong exception to the unwarranted interception and arrest of senior NSCN (R) functionaries by security forces at Deomali while they were en route to attend the meeting.
It said such actions were unacceptable and undermine the spirit of dialogue at a time when the Naga people were striving for peace.
NSCN (R) stated that, while recognizing the extensive dialogues held over the years, this was not a time for division or distrust but a historic opportunity to build bridges and heal wounds.
It asserted that both the Nagas and government of India must reject animosity and embrace a partnership rooted in mutual respect, justice, and shared aspiration for peace.
NSCN (R) further reaffirmed its commitment to a dignified solution to the Indo-Naga issue and urged all stakeholders to act with urgency and sincerity to secure a future where Nagas can thrive in peace and dignity.
