Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has strongly condemned the alleged rape and murder attempt by one Khrietoulie Kense, on a mother of four children, at Botsa village on July 16, 2025.
In a press release, NSCW chairperson W Nginyeih Konyak described as “unimaginable and disturbing” that women were not safe even in their own dwelling place. Konyak said the latest incident was “an appalling act” that highlighted the persistent threats to women’s safety and security.
The commission noted the increasing number of crimes against women in Nagaland, which was unheard of in Naga society before, seemed prevalent with continuous breach of safety and security for women.
In this regard, NSCW has urged every right-thinking citizen to ponder upon and condemn such inhumane crime. “It is unacceptable that women and girls continue to face such dangers while carrying out their daily chores,” NSCW said.
The commission has, therefore, demanded that the state government and the law enforcing agencies initiate swift and thorough investigation, and ensure that perpetrator was awarded strict punishment. NSCW also appealed for immediate measure to strengthen the safety and security of women and girls in the state.
