Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has vehemently condemned the attempted rape of a minor girl on May 31, 2025, by a 70-year-old man from Old Jalukie Sector ‘B’, Peren district.
In a condemnation note, NSCW chairperson W. Nginyeih Konyak expressed deep concern over the rising frequency of such crimes and reaffirmed the Commission’s firm stance against all forms of violence and harassment toward women and girls.
She said that these acts violate basic human rights and undermine the safety and dignity of women.
Describing the incident as appalling, NSCW highlighted the ongoing threats to the safety of women and girls, even within their own localities.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for safer environments and ensuring justice and accountability in such cases.
Nagaland State Commission for Women emphasized that it was unacceptable for women and girls to face dangers while pursuing education and careers.
The Commission demanded a swift investigation, strict punishment for perpetrators, and immediate safety measures in both government and private workplaces.
The Commission urged citizens to be aware of the legal consequences of offenses against women and girls and stressed the importance of prioritizing women’s safety to ensure such crimes do not go unpunished.
