NSCW holds consultative meeting with apex women tribal hohos

DIMAPUR

Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) held a consultative meeting with apex women tribal hohos in Nagaland on September 17, at SIRD Conference Hall, Kohima. Most of the women organisations were represented by their presidents and general secretaries, who deliberated on a wide range of issues concerning the empowerment, safety and security of women in Nagaland.
A press release by NSCW stated that in the first session, chairperson NSCW, W. Nginyeih Konyak, delivering the keynote address, underscored the need for collective effort to create safe and enabling environment for women.
She also stated that voices of women tribal hohos were crucial in shaping policies and interventions that directly impact the lives of women across Nagaland, and called to work towards ensuring dignity, equity and security for every woman in the society.
Member NSCW, Akokla Longchar, shared insights into role and functions of commission, while member NSCW, Kekhrienuo Meyase, later spoke on the topic “The Key to Holistic Empowerment of Women”, and Commission’s Legal Consultant, Apila Sangtam, highlighted legal rights of women.
The meeting provided vital platform for dialogue with tribal women leaders and reaffirmed collective commitment to safeguard women’s rights and strengthen their participation in all spheres of life.
