NSCW holds second phase district tour

Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) led by its chairperson W. Nginyeih Konyak, conducted the second phase district tour from February 19 to 24, and visited Noklak, Shamator, Tuensang, Mokokchung and Zunheboto districts.


During the tour, NSCW held meetings with District Apex Tribal Women Organisations and discussed on various issues related to women.
During the discussion, chairperson Nginyeih Konyak emphasised the need to create more awareness on various issues such as cybercrime, domestic violence and providing a safe medium for afflicted women. She also encouraged apex women organization from the districts to continue to play an active role in collaboration with the district administration, police and other line departments to promote and protect women welfare and empowerment.


During the visit to district hospitals and district jails, the team interacted with the medical officers, nurses and also with the jail officials and female inmates. The team also visited Women Police Stations and Sakhi- One Stop Centres at Tuensang, Mokokchung and Zunheboto respectively.


Various challenges faced by the institutions with regard to women welfare and protection of their rights were discussed.
The team also interacted with District Welfare Officers, who are also the designated District Protection Officer for Domestic Violence and also examined the socio-economic conditions and welfare programmes available to women through various government schemes and its proper and judicious implementation.
