DIMAPUR, AUG 17 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) said monsoon conditions are expected to remain active across Nagaland from August 18-21, 2026, with light to moderate rainfall, localized thunderstorms and lightning likely at several places.
On August 18, light to moderate rainfall is likely at a few places in Longleng and Phek, while thunderstorms and lightning are expected over Dimapur and Peren. On August 19, similar activity is likely over Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren and Shamator.
Thunderstorm activity is expected to intensify on August 20, with light to moderate rainfall at scattered locations in Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto.
On August 21, thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rainfall are likely at scattered locations, particularly in Chümoukedima, Kiphire, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto.
The four-day cumulative rainfall forecast puts Longleng highest at 81.15 mm, followed by Mokokchung (59.85 mm), Peren (51.72 mm), Tuensang (50.67 mm), Mon (47.26 mm), Wokha (46.78 mm) and Tseminyu (43.98 mm). Other districts may receive 18.15-41.12 mm.
NSDMA cautioned that thunderstorms may bring lightning and brief gusty winds, along with localized waterlogging, slippery roads and reduced visibility. Residents in landslide-prone and other vulnerable areas were advised to remain vigilant, especially where rainfall has been recurring.
