NSDMA forecasts rain, t-storms

DIMAPUR, SEP 14 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in several districts from September 15-18, 2026 with Longleng, Mon and Mokokchung expected to record the highest cumulative rainfall during the four-day period.
For September 15, NSDMA has predicted light to moderate rain in Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon, while thunderstorms and lightning with light rain likely in Noklak and Tuensang.
Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in Dimapur, Peren and Phek, while Wokha may receive light rain.
Partly cloudy conditions are likely in Chümoukedima, Kiphire, Kohima, Meluri, Niuland, Shamator, Tseminyu and Zunheboto.
On September 16, the authority has forecast thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain in Longleng and Mon. Thunderstorms and lightning with light rain are likely in Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Niuland, Noklak, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto.
Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in Meluri, Peren and Phek, while Kiphire has no active weather warning.
NSDMA has forecast no active weather warning for any district on Sept. 17.
On September 18, thunderstorms and lightning with light rain are likely in Noklak, Phek, Shamator and Zunheboto, while thunderstorms and lightning are forecast in Kiphire and Meluri. Light rain is expected in Mon and Tuensang.
Overcast conditions are likely in Peren, Tseminyu and Wokha, while Chümoukedima, Kohima and Niuland may experience partly cloudy conditions. No active weather warning has been issued for Dimapur, Longleng and Mokokchung.
The four-day cumulative rainfall outlook puts Longleng at the highest with 42.96 mm, followed by Mon at 40.66 mm and Mokokchung at 34.80 mm. Tuensang is expected to receive 26.99 mm, Noklak 26.85 mm and Wokha 22.88 mm. Shamator and Zunheboto are forecast to receive 17.78 mm and 17.10 mm, respectively.
