Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast that the weather conditions across the state were expected to remain unstable during April 21-24, with widespread thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and intermittent rainfall likely to affect several districts. In a press release, NSDMA informed that localized thunderstorms and lightning were expected across most districts during the forecast period.
It said that light to moderate rainfall was likely at scattered locations across the state, adding that partly cloudy to overcast conditions would prevail intermittently.
According to NSDMA, Longleng, Mokokchung, and Mon districts were likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly on April 21, 2026 with Mon district witnessing heavy rainfall at most places.
It also said that almost all districts, including Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, Wokha, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and Tseminyu, were likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning between April 21-24, 2026.
Further, NSDMA informed that gusty winds could accompany thunderstorms in several districts, posing risk to loose structure, trees, and power lines.
It said Kiphire and Meluri districts were expected to experience no significant weather warnings during most of the forecast period. However, NSDMA said weather activity was expected to be more active during April 21–22 and would gradually improve from April 23 onwards, with reduced warnings in many districts.
