NSDMA forecasts widespread rain, thunderstorms till Aug 5

DIMAPUR, AUG 1 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast widespread rainfall and localized thunderstorms across the state from August 2-5, with Longleng and Tseminyu likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the period.
According to the latest district-wise weather outlook, Longleng is expected to experience moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall on August 2, while Phek may witness localized thunderstorms with lightning and light rain. Most districts, including Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Meluri, Niuland and Peren, are likely to receive light rain at a few places.
Weather activity is expected to intensify on August 3, with thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely over Kohima, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Longleng. Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Mokokchung and Phek may also receive scattered light to moderate rain.
On August 4, thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall are predicted in Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Peren, Shamator and Wokha, while several other districts may receive light to moderate rainfall.
NSDMA said scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected across most parts of Nagaland on August 5. Tseminyu may receive moderate to heavy rainfall at a few places, while Mon and Zunheboto have no active weather warnings. The authority advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to avoid possible risks and stay updated with official weather advisories issued during the forecast period ahead.
