Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), home department, has informed that Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2023 would be conducted on November 2, 2023 simulating earthquake and extreme weather condition. NSDMA organises an annual event of NEPEx to test the capability of the State to respond to any event of disaster.
As a precursor to the NEPEx, NSDMA would be holding orientation and coordination conference by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in collaboration with NSDMA in a virtual mode on October 20, 2023. NSDMA has informed that link to attend the programme would be sent before the commencement of the programme.
Meanwhile, NSDMA would also be holding preparatory events for NEPEx 2023 including orientation & coordination conference (in VC mode) for all officers of line departments on October 20, 2023; Table Top Exercise (TTEx) for other Stakeholders such as NDRF/SDRF/ Para military/DDMAs/IAG Members at ATI Kohima on October 31, 2023; mock exercise (physical conduct) in respective district on November 2, 2023 and submission of report by DDMAs to NSDMA on November 6, 2023.
Tasks and responsibilities: DDMAs would identify five vulnerable places in the districts as affected sites—two schools (Private/Govt. school), one college, one market place and one residential area.
DDMAs would identify volunteers for acting as casualties and as injured victims, and some volunteers may act as people with disability.
DDMAs would use trained Community First Responder/ Aapda Mitra trained volunteers, wherever they are available for the said purpose. DDMAs would also identify local Inter Agency Group (IAG) operating in the districts for coordination and partnership during the NEPEx.
Further, DDMAs would identify six observers from para-military/SDRF/Police and other line departments during NEPEx on November 2, 2023.
