Terming the proposed staffing pattern of GHSS as “school unfriendly policy”, Nagaland School Education Administrative Officers Association (NSEAOA) Nagaland Secondary School Field Officers Forum (NSSFOF) and All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) said that the policy would adversely affect the academic activities of high school sections due to absence of HM, AHM and GTs in the concerned schools.
The issue was deliberated in detail during the emergency meeting, NSEAOA vice president, Ekonthung Lotha; NSSFOF convenor, Mezhuu Hozoyeh and ANSTA president Ponchulo Wanth said in a joint statement. Stating that proposal was “not practicable/not workable”, the associations said they were apprehensive that if the proposal was implemented in its present form, the whole academic functions of secondary & elementary sections would come to a grinding halt. This may cause irreparable harm to the students, they added.
They were also of the view that the schools with heavy enrolment having different sections of each class (where more teachers are required) shall be the most effected, due to absence of GTs. The associations urged “the higher ups/policy makers” to see the applicability /feasibility (to school levels/classroom situation) as and when such policy pertaining to school education was framed so that career prospects of students were not jeopardized. In this regard, the associations appealed esteemed authority to “relook”, before implementation. “If not we may be compelled to disagree it if it is implemented in its present form,” they stated.
