NSF calls for change in state education policies

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has called for a change in education policies which needed immediate intervention by the Department of Education, Nagaland.
In a press note, the federation said that although education was the backbone of “our” society and no nation would progress without education, the federation added that it was aggrieved by the present education system in the state which was deteriorating day by day.
Naga Students’ Federation said there were some good private schools but only ‘affluent people’ could afford it and therefore the government should give outmost importance to the government schools in the interest of the general public.
Reiterating on the need to change educational policies, Naga Students’ Federation said while some government schools had excess teachers there were also many schools without adequate teacher.
In this regard the federation had submitted three points for immediate consideration:
 (1) to stop all transfers and posting of teachers in the middle of the academic session, (2) appointment/deployment of teachers in all the government schools without adequate teacher and (3) to review the powers and functions of Village Education Committee (VEC).
Naga Students’ Federationfurther urged the education department to look into the matter with utmost seriousness in the larger interest of the Nagas in general and the welfare of the students’ community in particular.
