Chedema Village Youth Organisation (CVYO) stormed into the final of the 25th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy after edging past Sechü Zubza FC 2–1 in a gripping first semi-final match played on Wednesday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
In a fiercely contested encounter, both sides displayed determination and tactical brilliance, keeping spectators on their feet until the very end. Sechü Zubza FC drew first blood through Lalminglu Vankal, who scored in the 10th minute to hand his team an early lead. CVYO, however, remained composed and gradually took control of the game with sustained pressure and creative attacks.
Their efforts were rewarded in the final minutes of regulation time when Benjamin struck in the 90+2 minute to level the score. With momentum firmly on their side, CVYO carried their dominance into extra time, where T. Zemik netted the decisive goal in the 100+9 minute to secure a dramatic victory and a well-deserved place in the final.
T. Zemik, who was instrumental in the team’s comeback, was named Player of the Match and received his award from the match patron, MLA and Advisor for Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland Wangpang Konyak.
With this victory, CVYO sealed their spot in the grand finale of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, continuing a remarkable campaign defined by teamwork, perseverance and late-match heroics.
ROAD TO SEMI-FINALS
Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT) have impressed throughout their journey to the semi-finals, combining tactical discipline with clinical finishing. The team defeated Kirha FC 1–0, Jakhama Youth Organisation 6–1, Nagaland Police 3–0, and Kuki United FC 3–1, scoring a total of 13 goals while conceding only two.
Former Nagaland Super League second runner-up, Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC), also made a strong impact after being placed directly in the pre-quarterfinals.
They recorded a commanding 7–0 victory against Dimapur Chaos and followed it up with a 2–1 win over Mao Students’ Union, scoring nine goals while conceding just one.
