The 31st General Conference of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), held under the theme “Resilience in Transition” at RSA Ground, Tseminyu and hosted by Rengma Students’ Union (RSU), concluded Friday.
According to organisers, the three-day programme witnessed participation of over 1400 delegates representing NSF units and subordinate bodies from across Nagaland and beyond “artificial boundaries”.
A new team of office bearers for the tenure 2025–2027 was elected with Mteisuding Heraang as president. He will be assisted by Vimeyiekho Vitso as vice president and Kenilo Kent as general secretary. Veze Tunyi was elected assistant general secretary, while the social and culture portfolio went to Thejalhoukho Thomas Khawakhrie.
Other office bearers include Ajo Tsela as secretary (education), Katho P. Awomi as secretary (finance), and Temjentoshi as secretary (publicity & information). Mariko O. Leriina was elected speaker of the NSF Federal Assembly.
The valedictory session was graced by Arunachal Pradesh legislator, Laisam Simai, as the special guest, while Abu Metha, advisor to chief minister, chairman of IDAN and vice president of Athletics Federation of India, attended as valedictory guest and addressed the gathering.
The programme was chaired by R.S. Jollyson. Solidarity message was delivered by Neingulo Krome, secretary general of Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR). The dedicatory prayer for the new office bearers was offered by Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, general secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).
Cultural presentations included an indigenous song by Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA), Myanmar, and Dziipani. Short speeches were delivered by outgoing and incoming presidents, while vote of thanks was proposed by Kesosul Christopher Ltu, co-convenor of the Central Organising Committee (COC).
Earlier during the morning session, NLA deputy speaker S Toiho Yeptho was the special guest, Dr Akum Longchari was the theme speaker for the session.
A brief sensitization on Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 (ILP) was delivered by ILRC chairman Senchumo NSN Lotha.
