NSF leaders meet Ajit Lal, call for early Naga solution

DIMAPUR, JUL 16 (NPN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has urged the Centre to expedite the ongoing Naga peace talks and work towards an early political resolution while taking into account the aspirations of the Naga people.
According to NSF, a federation delegation called on Adviser (NE), Ministry of Home Affairs, Ajit Lal, on Thursday and discussed the prevailing security situation in the region, particularly the Naga-Kuki conflict. The delegation highlighted the urgent need to restore normalcy and lasting peace. The delegation appealed to the adviser to sincerely pursue the ongoing peace negotiations and bring them to a logical and early conclusion.
NSF said the delegation also urged the Centre to remain sensitive to the deep-seated emotions and legitimate aspirations of the Naga people during the peace process.
NSF described the meeting as a significant step towards reaffirming collective demand for a political settlement to the decades-old Naga issue. Ajit Lal, a former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau, assured NSF that he would look into the matter, it stated.
