NSF memo on MBBS seats

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has petitioned the State Health & Family Welfare minister to ensure that only the indigenous Naga students of Nagaland Sate were selected for the eight MBBS seats allotted to the State in NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.
NSF general secretary Hetoi Chishi and vice president Charles Lotha in a representation to the H&FW minister informed that many students domicile in Nagaland State had applied for the reserved quota for selection into NEIGRIHMS through entrance examination to be conducted by the “College authority.”
The Federation said it was of the view that “indigenous people of the Nagas rather than non-Nagas in the State” should be given the privilege as the State was struggling with only thirty one MBBS seats under the disposal of the government.
“In protecting the interest of the indigenous Naga students, the Federation urge the government to intimate to the institute not to entertain any applicant from Nagaland State without ST certificate, indigenous certificate issued by the competent authority,” the representation stated.
The federation also said that while addressing every possible means to promote educational system for Naga students, NSF had, with all sincerity, adopted the principle of “Nagas by blood and not by adoption.”
