NSF to observe Martyrs’ Day on March 20

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed that it would be observing the “39th NSF Martyrs’ Day” at NSF Martyrs’ Park, Kohima, on March 20, 2025 at 9am “to honour the supreme sacrifices of our martyrs, Lt. Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima Village and Lt. Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema Village.”

In a press release, NSF general secretary Chumben Khuvung has extended invitation to all students, youth leaders, well-wishers, and media fraternity to join them “in paying homage to our fallen comrades.” The federation said their sacrifice continued to inspire generations in their collective pursuit of justice, peace, and the rights of the Naga people.

Further, NSF has called upon all its federating units and sub-ordinate bodies to fly their respective flags at half-mast as a mark of respect. The federation also urged all the schools across the Naga homeland “to observe a one-minute silence in memory of our martyrs” on March 20, 2025.

The federation stated that this year’s observance also marks a significant milestone—the 25th Anniversary Edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, a tournament, which it said has stood as a symbol of resilience and unity among the Naga youth in the pursuit of peace through sports. NSF informed that official trophy for this year’s edition would be unveiled and launched for touring across the Naga homeland during the event.
