NSF Trophy handed over to Angami Students’ Union

The Trophy of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy was officially handed over to the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) by the Mao Students’ Union (MSU) on Sunday at Asufü Turf, Senapati, Manipur during the Trophy Tour for the upcoming 25th championship.
Addressing the gathering as the chief host, Losü Dikho, MLA of 48 Mao Assembly Constituency, acknowledged the significance of the ongoing Trophy Tour, which traverses all inhabited Naga areas as part of the 25th Anniversary Edition of the tournament. He stated that the tour served not only to commemorate the sacrifices of the past but also to promote unity and solidarity among the Nagas through football, which he described as a modern symbol of togetherness. Dikho further urged the youth to pursue the sport with professionalism, viewing it as a viable path towards a brighter and more secure future.
Medo Yokha, convenor of the Steering Committee for the 25th edition, expressed gratitude to God for the successful journey of the trophy and its arrival in Senapati for the official handover. He underscored the message of peace and unity that the tournament has carried since its inception and encouraged football enthusiasts from all walks of life to actively participate in the upcoming event. He expressed hope that the landmark edition would serve as a catalyst for renewed unity within Naga society, grounded in a shared history and aspiration.
In his address, ASU president Diezevisie Nakhro highlighted the deepening ties and improved communication within the student fraternity. He observed that such engagements were laying a strong foundation for greater unity and understanding among the various Naga communities, especially the youth.
To commemorate the occasion, an exhibition football match was held between teams representing ASU and MSU, symbolising camaraderie and mutual respect while also promoting sportsmanship. The 25th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy is being organised by the Angami Students’ Union in honour of student martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the Naga people. The trophy tour aims to remind younger generations of these sacrifices while inspiring them through the unifying spirit of football.
