NSF Trophy: Mao Students Union, Dimapur Chaos register wins

The ongoing 25th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy witnessed dominant performances on Saturday at the IG Stadium, Kohima, as Mao Students’ Union (MSU) and Dimapur Chaos secured comfortable victories in their respective encounters.
In match no 27, Mao Students’ Union outclassed Phesama Students’ Union 5–1 in a one-sided contest. Lohrü Kaisii led the charge for MSU, netting twice in the 19th and 38th minutes to give his team an early advantage. Ngararsing extended the lead in the 64th minute, followed by goals from Athili in the 67th and Salam Swami Chandra in stoppage time (90+4).
Phesama’s lone consolation came through Mezhülhoulie Zashümo, who found the back of the net in the 71st minute.
Lohrü Kaisii (jersey no. 23) was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance and was presented the award by Mteisuding Heraang, President of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).
In match no 28, Dimapur Chaos overcame Football 4 Change (F4C) with a 2–1 victory in a closely fought battle. Gangchui, (jersey no. 18) proved to be the hero for Dimapur Chaos, scoring both goals in the 45th and 88th minutes to seal the win for his side.
F4C’s Seiminthung (13) managed to pull one back in the 57th minute, but his effort was not enough to turn the tide.
Gangchui was adjudged Player of the Match and received the award from Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
Both teams—Mao Students’ Union and Dimapur Chaos—now advance to the pre-quarter final stage of the tournament, keeping alive their hopes of lifting the coveted NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy.
