On the third day of the ongoing 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at IG Stadium, Kohima, jointly organised by NSF and ASU, PLLA Manipur and Mao Students Union emerged victorious in their respective matches on Tuesday.
In the fourth match of the tournament, PLLA Manipur thrashed Ensemble FC 8–1 in a one-sided encounter.
Ngamkholal, wearing jersey number 18, stole the show with a hat-trick, scoring in the 44th, 59th and 74th minutes. His performance earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ title, which was handed over by Kapani Krichena, member of the steering committee.
The other contributors to PLLA’s massive win were Hemgoulal Lupho (jersey no. 20), who netted twice in the 50th and 91st minutes, Lumgousem Kipgen (jersey no. 8) in the 68th minute, Samuel Satgousem (jersey no. 13) in the 85th minute, and Jangminlal Haskip (jersey no. 17) in the 35th minute.
Ensemble FC’s lone goal came early in the 17th minute through Phanjamo Ezung (jersey no. 17).
In the fifth match, Mao Students Union FC registered a comfortable 3–0 win over Highlanders FC, Pfutsero. W. John Singh, donning jersey number 7, scored twice in the 11th and 59th minutes, while teammate Lohrii Kaisii (jersey no. 23) added another in the 69th minute. Singh was adjudged ‘Man of the Match,’ and the award was presented by Bisevi Nakhro, former president of the Angami Students’ Union.
With these results, both PLLA Manipur and Mao Students Union FC have shown strong form in the early fixtures in their respective groups.
