NSF urges govt to ensure students get uninterrupted power

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has urged the state government to take immediate action to enhance electricity supply and ensure that all students have access to uninterrupted power supply during their exam period.

In a press release, NSF president Medovi Rhi and general secretary Chumben Khuvung reminded that students across the state were preparing for their exams and it was imperative to have access to reliable electricity. However, NSF said that the state “unfortunately” experiences frequent power outages and load shedding, which could have a significant impact on ability of students to study and perform well in their exams.

The federation asserted that electricity, which powers students’ study tools such as laptop tablets and lights, played a vital role in the life of students especially during exam period. However, NSF said that lack of electricity not only disturbed their study routine but also effected their mental wellbeing and overall performance.

As students were already under immense pressure to perform well in exam, NSF said the added stress of unreliable electricity only exacerbated their anxiety. “This situation is unfair to students who are working hard to secure a better future,” it added.

The federation maintained that investing in enhancing electricity supply for students during the exam periods was “an investment in the future of our state”, adding that it would not only alleviate the stress and anxiety faced by students but also contribute to their academic success.
