Naga Students Federation (NSF) has welcomed the official notification issued by the state government that notified bringing entire Dimapur district under the purview of Inner Line Permit (ILP) with immediate effect.
In a press release, NSF president Ninoto Awomi and assistant general secretary Siipuni Ng Philo asserted that extension of ILP regime to cover the entire state of Nagaland has been the long standing demand of the federation in its “sincere bid” to protect the rich culture, traditions, customs and practices of the indigenous people from the influx of illegal immigrants in the state.
NSF expressed appreciation to the state government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio and deputy chief minister Y Patton for the policy decision, which it said would go a long way in protecting the rights of the Indigenous people of the state. Further, the federation acknowledged the “visionary wisdom and contributions” of its seniors who initiated “this journey and carried the torch forward, and to all who walked along with us throughout this journey until we see the light of this historic day.”
Meanwhile, the NSF has appealed to the state government to put in place a robust system so as to ensure that the ILP law was implemented in letter and in spirit. NSF assured the government of its fullest support and co-operation.
