NSLSA conducts legal literacy programme on I-Day

Nagaland State Legal Services Authority through the  District Legal services Authority celebrated Independence Day on August 15 by reaching out to the common man by means of Free Legal  Literacy stall, exhibition and programmes.
Free legal literacy booklets, pamphlets, flyers  and simplified law books on various legislations and provisions of law targeted for children, senior citizens and women were distributed  at the legal literacy stall set up at the ceremonial venue of the respective district headquarter as a measure to spread legal awareness and  educated the public at mass scale. As stated through a release by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, the Legal Literacy exhibition stall commemorating National events is a noble venture undertaken by the State & District Legal Services Authorities which was originally  propounded by Justice N. Chaudhury, judge, Gauhati High Court and executive chairman of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority. Such initiatives of legal literacy stall endeavoring to reach out  to all; from the youngest to the oldest citizens in the state will ensure access to Justice for all and  dissemination of legal services on the basis of equal opportunity. Basic legal knowledge imparted to all sections of the society in this kind of forum secures the legal rights and empowers an individual. The release further compliments the members of District Legal Services Authorities and the legal fraternity including district judges, the deputy commissioners, and officials of District Administration of all the Districts for substantiating the activities of Legal services at the grass root level in the State.
KIPHIRE:  The members, panel lawyers and para legal volunteers of the Kiphire District Legal services Authority (DLSA) set up legal literacy stall at the ceremonial venue of the district where free distribution of legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers to the general public were carried out at the exhibition stall.
LONGLENG:  Victo Sema CJM & secretary of the Longleng DLSA  chaired the legal literacy stall. Panel lawyers and para legal volunteers  under Longleng DLSA assisted in the stall activities and provided legal advice, counseling to the people visiting the stall. Legal literacy materials in the form of print media were distributed at free of cost.
MON: Mon District Legal services Authority set up legal literacy stall where legal assistance and free legal advice were imparted to the common man visiting the exhibition stall chaired by Phuleto , Civil judge and secretary of Mon DLSA, panel lawyers and para legal volunteers. 
MOKOKCHUNG: Panel lawyers assisted by para legal volunteers deployed under Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority distributed legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers at free of cost to the public gathered at the ceremonial function of the Independence day event. 
DIMAPUR: The Dimapur District Legal services Authority opened a legal literacy stall where hundreds of public gathered at the stall to avail the free legal services, counseling, and advice rendered by the Dimapur DLSA. The free distribution of legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers was well received by the public at large. 
KOHIMA: The Kohima District Legal services Authority led by Mezivolü T. Therieh, chief judicial magistrate, Kohima and secretary of the Kohima District Legal services Authority along with the panel lawyers organised a jail visit-cum-counseling programme at the district jail Kohima. The programme chaired by panel Lawyer, KDLSA, V.Ashu Theyo. Assistant jailor, district jail Kohima and also a para legal volunteer registered under Kohima DLSA presented welcome and keynote address. Later a counseling session for the under trial prisoners was conducted to identify and address the legal issues and grievances faced by them. Seven under trial prisoners were identified and found to be eligible for availing free Legal Aid during the session.
PEREN: The secretary and civil judge, Somet Chang along with the panel lawyers chaired the legal literacy camp setup to commemorate the independence day of the nation. Free legal counseling and legal advices were provided to the people seeking such services at the event. The public were also provided with free legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers.
PHEK: Phek District Legal services Authority set up the legal literacy exhibition stall which was inaugurated by minister for forest, environment & climate change, Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire. The event saw a large number of visitors who were enlightened on  legal issues and aspects such as child labour, Domestic violence, consumer rights, lok adalats and fundamental duties. Later the chief guest and dignitaries of the event also visited the stall and were delighted to see the initiatives of such ventures. Distribution of legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers were also carried out at the stall at free of cost.
TUENSANG: The Tuensang District Legal services Authority set the tone of the celebration of the event by setting up a legal literacy exhibition stall. Large number of public visited the stall, availing the free Legal services in the form of Legal advice, counseling, awareness on various aspects of Legal issues and law provisions.
WOKHA: The Wokha District Legal services Authority led by W. V. Patton, civil judge and secretary of the District Legal services Authority chaired the legal literacy awareness stall along with the panel lawyers and para legal volunteers.  The event was marked by the overwhelming response from the public with the free distribution of legal literacy booklets, pamphlets and flyers. Essay competition on Fundamental Rights & Duties was organized at Higher Secondary and College level to commemorate this important national event. The winners of the essay competition were presented with awards and certificates, felicitated by the C.O.28-Assam Rifles and deputy commissioner of Wokha.
ZUNHEBOTO: The members and panel lawyers of the Zunheboto District Legal services Authority set up a legal literacy stall, where legal literacy booklets, pamphlets, books on basic laws and flyers were distributed to the masses. The visitors of the stall were also provided with prompt legal assistance and advice on various legal aspects and fundamental rights. 
The chief guests at the events in various districts visited the stalls and commented on the activities of the stall that this was a positive development by the legal fraternity, reaching laws to all its citizens.
