Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) organized an Alumni Meet for Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY)-trained youth on August 22, at the Migration Support Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi. The event aimed to connect alumni working in and around the Delhi-NCR region and to reaffirm institutional support for their livelihood journeys.
According to a press release issued by NSRLM, the gathering was graced by Director, Rural Skills, Ministry of Rural Development, Santosh Kumar Tiwari, who attended as the chief guest. In his keynote address, Tiwari described the DDUGKY as a “wonderful program” and reassured the youth of continued support from both the government of Nagaland and the government of India.
“Not only is the government of Nagaland behind you, but the government of India is also behind you,” he emphasized. Tiwari acknowledged the challenges of training and placing youth outside their home state but highlighted DDUGKY’s success in bridging this gap through a dual focus on training and placement. He also urged participants to make full use of Migration Support Centres, which exist to support alumni adjusting to life and work in new cities.
Joint Secretary, RD & Mission Director, NSRLM, Moa Sangtam, Joint Secretary, addressed the gathering and emphasized the competitive nature of government employment. He encouraged the participants to take pride in their roles as “ambassadors for the Nagas” and expressed satisfaction at the increasing number of young people from Nagaland pursuing livelihoods outside the state. He reaffirmed that NSRLM remains committed to supporting them in their career pathways.
Earlier, the meeting was inaugurated with a prayer by associate pastor, Delhi Ao Baptist Church, Rev. Imkongmeren Imchen, while COO (Skills), NSRLM, Menuoneituo Chadi, delivered the welcome address.
