DIMAPUR: Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) organised a DDU GKY Alumni Meet in Bengaluru on September 18, bringing together alumni, employers and stakeholders to celebrate the achievements and career journeys of young people who have benefited from the skill development programme of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
Special guest Moa Sangtam, joint secretary, Rural Development & Mission Director, NSRLM, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of skill development, perseverance and continued learning in building sustainable careers. He encouraged alumni to serve as brand ambassadors of Nagaland and role models for rural youth back home.
The programme featured inspiring “Journey Thus Far” sessions by alumni Isigwangle and Mercy Konyak, who shared their experiences, challenges and career progression after completing DDU GKY training. Their stories reflected how skill development, confidence and determination can open pathways to meaningful employment and sustainable livelihoods.
Dean Cooper, Learning & Development Manager, The Den, Bengaluru, a unit of Dan Hospitality India Pvt. Ltd., shared the employer’s perspective, emphasising the importance of skills, professionalism, discipline and workplace readiness among young employees. Dr. Sneha C.V., COO (Skills), Karnataka SRLM, also addressed the gathering, encouraging alumni to continue upgrading their skills, remain adaptable and pursue wider career opportunities. The Alumni Meet served as a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences and inspire other rural youth to embrace skill development opportunities and work towards self reliance.
The programme was chaired by Ebibeni Humtsoe, State Programme Manager (Mobilisation, DDU GKY), while pastor Nikato Yeptho of Naga Christian Fellowship Bengaluru pronounced the invocation and Menuoneituo Chadi, Chief Operating Officer (Skills), NSRLM, delivered the welcome address.
The event was attended by over 100 participants, including working candidates, state officials, invitees and members of the Naga community in Bengaluru.
