NSRLM plantation-cum-sanitation drive culminates

As part of the 75th Independence Day “azadi ka amritmahotsav”, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Rural Development (RD) carried out tree plantation campaign-cum-sanitation drive in convergence with Forest department under Nagaland Forest Management Project across Nagaland. 

A press release by NSRLM informed that the campaign which began on July 2 and culminated on August 7 covered 200 pilot villages under 74 RD blocks across 11 districts. 

Harnessing the strength of cohesive community, NSRLM said the sanitation and tree plantation drive was conducted through the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with participation from PD-DRDA, DFO, range officers forest, village councils, youths, and churches. 

Throughout the campaign, NSRLM said 7000 trees and ornamental plants were planted in the vicinity of DRDA and block offices, village gate and streets, church compound, local ground and community hall area. 

NSRLM said the mission was present in 1245 villages and that the campaign would be an annual effort by the SHGs in convergence with forest department to foster tree plantation in all the villages towards a greener environment.   

Pfutsero block: NSRLM Pfutsero block organised tree plantation, sanitation drive and also cleaned bamboo poles hand wash made for COVID 19 safety measures under the mission. 

To mark the celebration, a launching programme was organised at Pfutseromi Village August 7 which was followed by tree plantation and sanitation drive throughout the village.

Ghathashi block: NSRLM BMMU RD Ghathashi block in collaboration with Forest department, Pughoboto and Ikowo VLO Pughoboto organised tree plantation day on August 7 at Pughoboto. 

A press release by BMMU RD Ghathashi block stated that ranger, Pughoboto range, KihotoWotsa highlighted the importance and benefits of tree plantation at such crucial juncture and encouraged gathering to inculcate habit of tree plantation.

The block informed that VOs and SHGs in various villages under the block also organised tree plantation under the initiative of the BMMU RD-Ghathashi, NSRLM.
