DIMAPUR: Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), Rural Development Department, is set to sign a MoU with BRAC International to collaborate on SAY–SOBLOK, aligned with the Samaveshi Aajeevika Yojana (SAY) under DAY NRLM, MoRD. The initiative will support 4,000 extremely vulnerable households, inspired by BRAC’s Graduation Approach.
According to a press release from NSRLM, the launch of SAY–SOBLOK has been scheduled for October 6, with Commissioner and Secretary, Rural Development, Thavaseelan, as special guest, along with participants from BRAC International, line departments and partners.
The Nagaland chapter of SAY-SOBLOK will target women headed vulnerable households and households with persons with disabilities. The identification process will consider overlapping forms of vulnerability, including female headed families and households with persons with disabilities.
“SOBLOK” is an acronym coined from Nagamese Creole, derived from the phrase “Sob manu logot dangor kaam kora,” which loosely translates to “Inclusive and Collective Growth.”
The initiative will adapt the national SAY framework to the local context and specific realities of vulnerability. NSRLM stated that over a period of 36 months, the measures are expected to strengthen household resilience and enable families to move towards more secure and diversified sources of income.
