NSS unit of Don Bosco College (DBC), Kohima, began its special camp under the theme, “Swachh Bharat” in the adopted village, Rüsoma from April 22, organized in collaboration with department of Youth Resources & Sports and Peace Channel.
A press release from DBC Kohima, stated that chief guest pro-vice chancellor, Nagaland University, Merima campus, professor R. C. Gupta hoisted the NSS flag and appreciated the activities organized by DBC Kohima NSS unit. He also encouraged the NSS that serving society was serving the nation and ultimately serving God and that they should go to remote villages to promote organic farming.
He wished all the NSS volunteers a successful and prosperous camp. Pinky Sagolsem NSS programme officer, gave welcome address in the program compered by NSS unit president Angela. The chairman of the village and several villagers attended the function. Village authorities welcomed the team of volunteers into their village and assured them of co-operation needed in making the special camp a success.
During the afternoon session the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) taught the NSS volunteers how to tackle situations during natural disaster or manmade disaster. This was followed by first training programme by Dr. Victoria Seb of Vital Family Clinic.
