NSS volunteers trained under Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme

National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers underwent training under the “Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme” at Central Training Institute (CTI), Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF, Toluvi, Dimapur from July 14 to 20.
According to Ruokuovituo Zatsu, State NSS Officer, Nagaland, 120 volunteers joined the first batch of the programme, which was organised by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The training was held in collaboration with Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF. The inaugural was addressed by Avinuo, CO CTI, and chaired by M. Yingnyei Konyak, Deputy Commandant.
Certificates were awarded to the volunteers upon completion. The scheme aims to promote youth participation in disaster preparedness through a structured mechanism.
NDMA had launched the initiative to train over 2.37 lakh youth from NSS, NCC, NYKS, and Bharat Scouts & Guides as first responders across 315 districts in 28 states. It also includes Training of Trainers (ToTs) under the Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme (UAMS).
