NSU calls off school agitation

DIMAPUR

The Nsong Students’ Union (NSU), in collaboration with allied organizations, has officially called off its recent agitation and school closure following the notification issued by the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, dated August 22, and subsequent Cabinet approval (Minutes No. CAB-1/14/2023 dated August 19, 2025).
According to a press release issued by the NSU media cell, academic activities will resume from August 25, and all students, teachers, and staff have been requested to return to their respective duties.
The Department has reviewed and rationalized the posting of teachers, including the appointment and redeployment of Science teachers, thereby addressing one of the core demands raised by the Union. As per the revised policy, all Graduate Teachers will now fall under a single category and may teach any subject except Mathematics and Science.
NSU said that the unified approach is expected to ease the shortage of English teachers in the area.
NSU expressed gratitude to the various organizations and individuals who extended unwavering support throughout the movement. The Union stated that the collective resilience and unity shown during the agitation played a vital role in ensuring safety and continuity of the campaign.
