National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Nagaland state unit has raised serious concerns over transparency in the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) recruitment process.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan here on Saturday, NSUI state unit president X Chophika Sumi acknowledged state government’s decision to constitute NSSB on July 4, 2023, and appreciated the move as a step in the right direction towards streamlining state-level recruitment.
However, NSUI unit president alleged that despite board’s efforts to maintain transparency, several irregularities have come to light, particularly with regard to non-disclosure of individual marks and cut-off scores.
Chophika pointed out that in NSSB portal there was no option to check marks scored by candidates compared to other recruitment agencies. He said in SSC portal, candidates have access to their marks scored in exam.
He maintained that absence of such information raised doubts and opened door for speculation and possible manipulation.
While NSSB claimed to operate transparently, Chophika asserted there was lack of disclosure of cut-off marks, which he maintained contradicted their objective.
He stated that candidates should be able to access their own marks and view the final cut-off marks for every examination.
In this regard, Chophika said that a memorandum, outlining concerns, would soon be submitted to the NSSB authorities. He said that the observations were based on feedback collected from various aspirants who appeared for NSSB examinations.
NSUI unit has demanded release of individual marks on candidate’s dashboard and declare cat-egory wise cut off marks.
NSUI unit president expressed hope that the responsible authorities would look into the concerns raised.
