Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) has reiterated its demand for the suspension of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) nominee, Enoch S. Wotsa, until proven innocent in the case registered against him.
NTPRADAO appealed to DMC chairman Hukheto Yepthomi and deputy chairperson Imlinaro Stephanie Ezung– both from NDPP– to take immediate steps for his suspension in order to fulfil their political moral obligation to maintain high standards of public propriety and decorum. The association cautioned that failure to act would compel it to take the next course of action.
It also questioned how a father and son could serve in two separate political parties, pointing out that while Enoch S. Wotsa holds the post of vice president of NDPP Dimapur region youth wing, his father, Dr. Sukhato Sema, is an elected MLA from Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). According to NTPRADAO, such a situation reflects a lack of adherence to political ideology.
Further, NTPRADAO reminded NDPP that in the age of fast-paced social media, a political party is duty bound to project a clean public image. It said the people of Nagaland were watching and that any indecisiveness towards a supposedly powerful family would be seen as an open defiance, a mark of political power arrogance and blatant disregard for law, public discipline and dignity.
It also appealed to LJP (RV) Nagaland state president, Viloto Pukhato, to submit a report to its central leaders for necessary action on the issue. The association said it would “keep up the tempo and up the ante” until its objective was achieved in the interest of public good.
