Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) has served a 10-day ultimatum on Nagaland government to address the issue of railway wagons allocation for transportation of teak and moulding beats for the quarter of December 2015 to February 2016.
While claiming that the allocation had been manipulated by “one man”, single handedly, NTTU members along with its president, Kevise Soguotsu cautioned saying “if the state government does not pay heed to their demand, the union would be compelled to legal action for speedy redressal”.
Briefing mediapersons, NTTU members reminded that they were fighting for a “genuine case democratically”.
Despite Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya having endorsed to setup a committee to look into the matter and to uphold the Supreme Court order, NTTU said till date no such committee was setup. This is one of the reason why the issue had been dragged on this far, NTTU stated.
The formation of the committee still needed the approval to get functional, said the NTTU officials.
NTTU alleged that the current quarter was manipulated by a single person and allocation given to non-Nagas instead of the genuine Naga timber traders, for whom the allocation was made.
Nagaland Timber Traders Union also said it had apprised ACAUT of mater and was awaiting their response.
NTTU members reiterated that it would stand firm and democratically fight for reallocation of the railway wagons for the present quarter.
