DIMAPUR: Dr. Subhashis Banerjee and Prof. Nigamananda Das of the Department of English, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, delivered an invited talk on Environmental Humanities at the 12th International Conference on Language, Literature and Culture held in Isparta, Turkey, from October 21 to 24.
The conference, organised in collaboration with Bournemouth University, England, brought together scholars from across the world to discuss contemporary developments in language, literature and cultural studies. In his presentation, Dr. Banerjee explored the “ecological turn of human subjectivity” in the poetry of Jibanananda Das. He examined how the poet’s engagement with plants, landscapes and other forms of non-human life reshapes understandings of human identity and its relationship with the natural world. The presentation highlighted the contribution of Nagaland University’s Department of English to international discourse on Environmental Humanities and ecocritical literary studies.
