NU, KVK and ATMA Zunheboto hold KSS week

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Zunheboto, Nagaland University (NU), and ATMA Zunheboto, conducted a day long programme at V K Town in Zunheboto district on December 6, under Krishi Samridhi Swarna Week celebrations.

A press release by KVK Zunheboto informed that Principal Scientist and head, KVK, Zunheboto, Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia provided training on poultry farming and urged farmers to adopt good farming practices to improve productivity of local birds. He also requested farmers to go for adoption of new breeds of poultry birds to obtain maximum profit.

Farmer’s scientist interaction programme was also organized by ATMA, Zunheboto, where farmers interacted with different subject specialist, attended by Dr Chaurasia, CTO (Agr. /PB&G), Dr Visakho Shunyu, and DPD, ATMA Zunheboto, Vikaho Chopi.

The release informed that animal health camp was also organized, where it was reported that most farmers reported poor growth of poultry and pig, with worm infestations and occurrence of diarrhea in poultry birds as leading cause of mortality.

A total of 54 farmers from VK town and nearby villages attended the programme and were provided with free medicines which included anthelminthics, antibiotics, liver tonics and Vitamins.

KVK Dimapur

As part of the ongoing Krishi Swarna Samridhi (KSS), Week Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur organized training session on package and practices of potato cultivation, alongside distribution of 100 Quintals of Kufri Jyoti variety seed potato on December 7.

A press release by KVK Dimapur informed that the training session, which drew participation from local farmers, was led by Dr. Aabon Yanthan, Scientist, ICAR Nagaland Centre, where he imparted valuable insights on latest agricultural practices related to potato cultivation, providing farmers with crucial knowledge to improve yields and enhance their farming practices.
