NU scientist receives IHS award

Dr. Avinash Chauhan, scientist, AICRP (HB&P), dept. of Entomology, SASRD, Nagaland University (NU) was conferred with “best oral presentation” award by the Indian Horticulture Society (IHS) for his presentation entitled “impact of stingless bees on watermelon” which was authored by Dr. Avinash Chauhan, Dr. HK Singh and Otto S. Awomi.

A press release from  SASRD, NU, Dr. Avinash Chauhan was awarded among 46 national level oral presentations for his work on a particularly important issue during the three-day Indian horticulture summit organised from February 14 to 16 at Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramadhya Vishwavidyalaya Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh. 
In his presentation, Dr. Avinash raised the importance of stingless bees and their role in the pollination of crops in Nagaland. He emphasised that stingless bees have added advantages which make them suitable pollinators of crops under protected condition and help farmers in increasing the yield and quality of their crops.
University officials congratulated the scientist for his stellar achievement and bringing laurels to the university while helping the farmers and beekeepers of Nagaland and the world as a whole.
